The Access to Broadband Campaign is nearly 1 year old – we were mobbed by you at the Wireless LAN Event last year and the Campaign got off to a flying start.

Erol, Lindsey, John and Charlie ‘went for it’ and captured the mood of communities across the UK – all of us demanding access. I got roped in at the ABC1 conference in July last year – the energy and spirit of the Campaign was amazing. Lots of you have told us that we have to carry on doing this and promoting the cause of universal, affordable access to broadband.

In the past year the Campaign has worked hard to get an independent viewpoint across to the industry and to policymakers in government, the regulators, RDAs, public sector and to the industry. We have a network of strong supporters – and we are incredibly grateful to the large number of you who support the work. We are not-for-profit, largely volunteer run and we depend on your support and the financial support of sponsors to the events we have run to continue the momentum. Sometimes it feels like we are hurtling down the road, still bolting bits on the vehicle and we have very little ‘gas in the tank’!

This newsletter is designed to keep you in touch with ABC and what we’re up to. The feedback from you is that we don’t communicate enough about what we’re doing and how we’re doing it. Please let us know what you think about this – and what you want us to cover in future.

This year, we’re at Wireless LAN again (Olympia, 6th &7th April) – come and see us on the stand and join in the Community workshop. Above all – come and tell us what you want from the Campaign. We welcome your involvement.
