The Notspot register launches officially
The Notspot register and survey site needs you!

http://www.notspot.info

Unless you are sitting on a fat pipe and don't know what to do with all that bandwidth, your views are sought. The survey is for those who are unable to get a broadband connection, and also those who are unable to get the speed they need.

Those who cannot get broadband are hindered in their attempts to find solutions, as is the entire nation in trying to get close to true broadband access (one of ABC's key objectives), by the lack of cohesive information about just who cannot get connected and where they are located. It seems it may be commercially sensitive info and therefore unavailable until the incumbents and some new entrants respond.....

This is a shame, because other countries are taking a joined up look at ensuring the citizens and businesses have access to true broadband, and finding solutions that solve regulatory, geographical, technical, social and economic issues. We stand to get left a long way behind.

In this day and age, who can get enough bandwidth? There are several groups looking at the bandwidth requirements in the years to come, and it would be nice to point out that most of us don't find our connection enough for our requirements NOW!

As other nations advance beyond what sometimes seems like broadband in our wildest dreams, (as mentioned in November's Samizdat),
there are still many unable to get even the most basic flavour of broadband.

If you know of anyone who can't get broadband, please ask them to complete the survey.

RDAs and local authorities cannot approach the problem until they understand the extent of it.

Digital exclusion can only become worse if local authorities cannot deliver e-government services to everyone.

For communities, the value of local content is appreciated by all, and maybe it's time you were webcasting from your village hall/pub/school/sitting room to others who share your interest.....

Make broadband happen!

Tell your friends, family, colleagues and neighbours to complete the survey! The more people complete it, the more comprehensive the results will be, and the more impact we can have in competing with many other nations who are well on their way to true broadband already.
