Accommodation

The Conference is non-residential and therefore accommodation is the responsibility of delegates. Delegates can stay in either of the two hotels that are connected to the Conference Centre and resort complex or in local hotels or B&B accommodation situated very close by in Aviemore Village. See below for more details and booking information.

Conference Administration.

  • Delegates are advised, if at all possible, to arrive on Monday 1st November. The programme has been structured so that no plenary or keynote presentations take place until after lunch on Tuesday 2nd for delegates unable to arrive until Tuesday 2nd November.
  • Registration opens formally at 1000 on Tuesday 2nd November and the first workshops begin at 1030 (see programme for details). Tea and coffee is available on arrival and a buffet lunch runs from 1200.
  • For delegates arriving on Monday evening there will be a temporary registration facility available thus saving delegates time on Tuesday and enabling them to make best use of the networking opportunities. Delegate packs and badges will be provided at Registration.
  • The Conference Welcome is at 1315 on Tuesday 2nd November. The conference is scheduled to end at 1600 on Wednesday 3rd November.
  • Registration entitles delegates to all refreshments and lunches from arrival Tuesday 2nd including the Conference Dinner. The Conference Centre Hotel accommodation rates include Breakfast. The Dinner on Monday 1st November is by invitation only.
  • Any delegates who have particular dietary requirements or special needs (whether for mobility or communications) at the Conference should contact the ABC Events office by Friday 22nd October latest with their requirements.
  • There will be a public access wifi network open from Monday 1st November from 1800 in the Conference Centre and the public rooms of both Macdonald Hotels on site. For room connectivity, Delegates should speak directly to the Hotels.

We look forward to seeing you in Aviemore. If there are any questions about your registration or the administration of the Conference, please e-mail the ABC Conference office . This inquiry facility will close 17:00 on Friday 29th October. Thereafter, urgent matters should be directed to the Hotel switchboard (0870 124 4124) to await the Conference Management team’s arrival on Sunday 31st October.

Accommodation

At the Conference Venue.

Two Macdonald hotels form part of the Aviemore Conference Complex, one at 4* and one 3*. Macdonald Hotels have provided special rates for Conference Delegates.

  • The Macdonald Highland Hotel (4*)
    - Single occupancy £85
    - Twin occupancy £65
    Both rates are per person per night B&B. Upgrades are £20 pppn for an Executive room and £50 pppn for a suite.

  • The Macdonald Academy Hotel (3*)
    - Single occupancy £65
    - Twin occupancy £45
    Both rates are pppn B&B

Travel to Aviemore and the Conference Centre

By Car

From the North (Inverness) Leave A9 as signposted for Aviemore (B970), turn right at T-junction and follow road through Aviemore village. Turn right (2nd exit) at first roundabout into Aviemore Highland Resort and follow signs to Reception.

From the South (Glasgow, Edinburgh and Perth) Leave A9 as signposted for Aviemore (B970), turn left at T-junction and follow road into Aviemore village. Immediately after Esso garage on right, turn left into Aviemore Highland Resort. (First exit on completion of roundabout at this junction) and follow signs to Reception.

By Bus

Coaches from London (12 hrs) Edinburgh (2½hrs) & Glasgow (3 hrs). Contact Citylink on 0870 50 50 50 or www.citylink.co.uk. The Bus Terminal is 200 metres away from resort.

By Air

Flight time London to Inverness 1 hour 30 minutes.
Flight time London to Edinburgh or Glasgow or Aberdeen 1 hr.
Driving time from the airports to Aviemore is:
2½ hours from Glasgow; 2 hours from Edinburgh; 90 mins from Aberdeen; 40 mins from Inverness
