Wired "First Mile" broadband technologies currently account for more than 95% of total broadband connections both worldwide and in the UK. The most prevalant wired technologies are ADSL (copper wire from the telco circuit-switched network), cable modem access (Hybrid Fibre Coaxial cable), leased line (dedicated copper line or fibre optic cable)and Fibre to the Home (fibre optic cable). Power line is a new wired technology utilising electric utility power lines to deliver broadband to subscribers.

Scottish Hydro says they have completed tech trials satisfactorily and are assessing biz case. Scottish and Southern claim to be actually offering the service to consumers in winchester and to be rolling out widely in the south mid year. Anyone know of any others live or in the pipeline?
