The CBN offers free mentor days from acknowledged experts to get your community network off the ground, to reach sustainability, to deal with technical issues etc. Forums to answer your questions and a network of CAN folk to talk to.
CBN was joined with the Association of Broadband Communities (founded summer 2002) in September 2003 to provide support and networking for anyone planning or running a community broadband network.

The CBN initiative was launched by Stephen Timms and Alun Michael at the Access to Broadband Campaign Conference in January 2004, and its founders include ABC, Cybermoor, Countryside Agency, DTI, The Phone Co-op.

Digital Dales has been instrumental in helping CBN achieve its aims - organising events, bringing together all the members of the Association of Broadband Campaign in Wyboston at the rural|net conference and at the first mentor day in Stoneleigh, encouraging community campaigners to seek CBN mentor support, and regularly contributing to the forums with advice, commentary and questions.

The vision for CBN is to now move beyond the access problem and to create local content and services for communities over broadband connections.
