Fibre Fence Fiasco
BT charge how much???!
BT attempt to charge £25k to a guy in Cambridgeshire when he
accidentally dug up some of their fibre when putting in a new garden
fence.
It doesn't say whether this guy had broadband available to him, but knowing Cambridgeshire (home of Carnet, Invisible (RIP) etc), he probably is still waiting for ADSl whilst the fibre runs down the bottom of his garden.
Divide £25,780 by 2000m and it seems the cost of laying fibre in Cambridgeshire is pretty steep. If fibre is so insecure, it makes one want to go out and do what the rural Americans did and hold some to ransom until it is made accessible to us all. If you feel like this too, join the 'Light my fibre campaign' !!
Meanwhile, it seems as though FTTH (Fibre To The Home) may be closer than you realise.
