First Steps
Using this site: firstly, we strongly recommend that you use a decent browser to view this site and not the one which undoubtedly came with your computer! If you didn't realise you could change how you view the Internet, then we recommend you check out Opera, Mozilla and Firefox- you'll be amazed at the difference!
Navigation - to find your way around the site, choose one of the options in the dark blue bar at the top - Home, Broadband, Events, Consultancy, Virtual Village - or from the left hand box within each of those options, or follow the links at the bottom of the page to information About Us etc.
There are also links within your Personal Bar - at the top on the right which will allow you to interact with the Digital Dales community. News, Blogs, Wikis, HotTopics, etc are all to be found shortly, just by looking ;o)
Favourites - you can set up your own favourite places on the site simply by clicking the little arrow icon in your breadcrumbs. (The 'breadcrumbs' are at the top left of the page and tell you where you are on the site, making navigation easy!) Your Favourites will show in a box on the left hand side of every page so you can quickly return to them.
Membership - is free and it is simple to register and begin contributing or making the most of the tools on the site. You can have your own Blog, add articles, join in the Wikis, make comments, create a Del.icio.us page, and more. We are adding new functionality all the time, and if you don't know what a Blog or wiki or Delicious is, just try it out!! You'll be amazed at the ease with which you can start using all these funky new tools the Internet has given us!
Shameless plugs - many of the people who are involved in Digital Dales, or who visit us, run businesses. So, there is one place where you are more than allowed to push what you are involved in without feeling guilty! After all, it's not what you know but who you know, and Digital Dales has become a great place to get to know people, on and offline! So, check out the Forums and tell us what you do.
Advertising - there are multiple opportunities for advertising with Digital Dales - at events, on the website, at our exhibitions and seminars. Ask us here how to reach our audience.
When you say you will be at the Wireless LAN event, where actually can you be found? As what? Can't find you on the exhibitor list.
By the way, the Guy Kewney news machine may appear in the Albion around 6 on the first day. Not sure about this but more may follow.
