CAN Colloquium

Document Actions
The CAN Colloquium is a networking event specifically for those running community broadband networks. Each year we also hold the CANdo Awards to recognise the achievements (and occasional failure) of communities nationwide who are tackling the broadband divide issue.

CAN Colloquium 4

January 28th, 2006, Wray Institute, Wray, Lancashire

REGISTER NOW - 20 pounds sterling includes lunch

Kindly hosted by WrayComCom

Format of event:

The speakers on the day will be YOU. Therefore, there will be a considerable number of CAN experts and CANdoers in one place - definitely an opportunity to make the most of!

Share your experiences, seek advice and expertise, discuss issues surrounding owning and operating a community network, and meet others who have also been there, done that and got the lurid orange t-shirt/scars!

IT IS YOUR DAY. Socialise, network, join in, listen, explore, discover - JFDI! Bring along any resources you wish to share - the venue does of course have wireless broadband facilities, courtesy of WrayComCom. The infamous WTF backchannel will be up and running for remote participants to take part in the discussions and we hope to be webcasting as well.
Programme:

10am coffee and registration

10.30am - Kick off, and then we´ll take it where the attendees wish to.

VoIP, antennas, surveying, legal structures, problems, involving the community ideas, innovation, community content, shared services, billing - the list is endless!

Lunchtime - assortment of butties - bacon and vegetarian options

5pm - Finish Colloquium

Networking, Maggot racing and Dinner

After the event, we will be heading to the George and Dragon for networking, supper and to take part in Wray's infamous maggot racing! Digital Dales and CBN have sponsored a race each (The Digital Dales Steeplechase and the Community Broadband Network Hurdle) and a maggot -  Computer Girls out of Pain in the Bum by Never Give Up!
